BE4tax — Bookkeeping Etc., Inc.

Fit

Built for organizations that answer to someone else

Nonprofits, grant recipients, small businesses, and subrecipients across Ohio and the Midwest. What my clients share is not size or sector — it is that somebody else audits their paperwork.

Nonprofits & grant recipients

Primary need: fiscal and compliance accuracy, audit readiness, board-legible reporting.

Restricted funds, multiple awards with different rules, a lean staff, and a board that needs to see clean numbers. This is my core fit and where my grants expertise pays for itself fastest.

Grants practice

Small businesses

Primary need: a real back office without hiring one.

You need the books right, payroll run, vendors paid, and someone to call — without adding a finance department. Twenty-eight years of doing exactly this is the reason my core client base is stable.

Accounting & Bookkeeping

Subrecipients

Primary need: compliance rigor and reporting discipline.

When funding passes down to you, the compliance obligations pass with it — on standards you did not write and timelines you do not control. I bring the documentation discipline that keeps an award renewable and a monitoring visit uneventful.

Compliance work

Regional by choice

I am not trying to be everywhere

My growth plan keeps me in my region rather than spreading across new markets. That is deliberate: it means I know the local funders, the state agencies, and the auditors — and it means I can be in the room when it matters.

  • Local knowledge that compoundsState pass-through agencies and their monitoring habits are not documented anywhere. I have learned them.
  • AvailabilitySame-week answers, year round — not just during close or tax season.
  • Reputation as collateralTwenty-eight years in one region means my references are people you can actually call.

Honest scoping

When I am not the right call

I would rather say so in the first conversation than discover it in month four.

  • You need an audit performed.I prepare for audits and respond to them; an independent auditor has to be independent. I will point you toward firms I trust.
  • You need tax returns prepared.I do not prepare company tax returns. I do the detail work first and prepare the financial statements, then hand off to a tax professional — and I will refer you to one.
  • You need tax representation or legal advice.I coordinate closely with CPAs and employment counsel, and I will tell you when a question belongs with them.
  • You need enterprise-scale volume. If your transaction volume needs a department, you need a department. I will say so.

Not sure where you land?

The two-minute audit-readiness self-check will tell you which parts of your grant file are actually covered — no email required to see your result.

Take the self-check

Tell me what is taking your time

A short call, no charge. I will tell you plainly whether this is work I should be doing for you — and if it is not, who should.
