What I do
Accounting and bookkeeping, run on a calendar
The recurring financial and operational work that has to happen every month, handled by a firm that has been doing it for twenty-eight years. Scoped clearly, priced clearly, and reviewed by a person you can reach.
Bookkeeping & accounting
The foundation. Everything else depends on the books being right.
Transaction recording, monthly close, bank and credit card reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial statements written to be read by a board rather than by another accountant.
- Monthly close on a committed calendar
- Fund and class accounting for restricted revenue
- Budget-to-actual reporting with variance notes
- Year-end packages prepared for your CPA or auditor
- Basic Form 990 submission
Back-office operations
The administrative layer that quietly consumes leadership time.
Vendor management, invoice processing and approval routing, deposits and receipts, document collection and retention, expense policy administration, and the recordkeeping that has to exist before anyone asks for it.
- Invoice intake, coding, and approval workflow
- Vendor files, W-9s, and 1099 preparation support
- Document retention structured for audit response
- Standard operating procedures written down, not remembered
Payroll support
Run through an established third-party provider, managed by me.
I administer payroll through a third-party provider so you get institutional-grade tax filing and remittance, with a single point of contact who actually knows your organization. Paycor is my recommendation, and I will work with whatever provider you already have in place.
- Payroll processing, review, and approval
- Time and effort allocation across grants and funding sources
- Benefit and deduction administration coordination
- Quarterly and annual filings coordinated with the provider
HR support
Basic HR, handled — with the paper trail intact.
Practical HR administration for organizations too small to staff an HR department but too exposed to improvise. I handle process and documentation; I will tell you plainly when a question belongs with employment counsel.
- New-hire onboarding and personnel files
- Automated background screening for staff and volunteers
- Handbook and policy acknowledgement tracking
- Employee change, leave, and separation documentation
Automation & systems
Fewer hours on the parts that repeat.
I look at where your team is re-entering the same information and remove that step. The goal is not novelty — it is that the hours you pay for go toward review and compliance instead of typing.
- Recurring reconciliation and reporting workflows
- Automated document collection and reminders
- Screening and onboarding automation
- One reporting calendar covering fiscal and program deadlines
Grants management
My growth practice — and the reason most new clients call.
Fiscal management and compliance for federal and state awards, with program-side management available as a modular add-on. Monitoring response and financial reimbursement submission included. Eighteen years of experience across both sides of grant administration.
Business solutions
Screening, payments, and automation through my partner network.
Background checks, E-Verify and I-9 management, credit reports, and drug screening through National Crime Search — plus payment processing and an operations platform for the clients who want more automated.
A The monthly rhythm
Every month runs the same four steps
Recurring work fails when it is done whenever someone remembers. Mine runs on a calendar you can hold me to.
Close the books
Bank and card reconciliation, receipts and invoices coded, accruals and fund allocations posted, the month shut cleanly.
Prepare financial statements
Statements produced in a form your board, your funder, and your CPA can each use without translation.
Review budget vs. actual
Variances identified and explained in plain language, by fund and by award, before anyone has to ask.
Meet with committees and the board
I sit in, present the numbers, and answer the questions directly — rather than sending a file and hoping it lands.
Grant-funded clients get fiscal and program deadlines on this same calendar, so nothing lives in two places. See grants management.
B How engagements are structured
Monthly retainer for recurring work. Hourly for project and advisory work.
Recurring back-office work is priced as a fixed monthly scope so your cost is predictable. Grants advisory, cleanup, audit response, and program-side work are quoted separately. You will always know which bucket a request falls into before I start it.
